FAQ

HOW SAFE IS IT?

Log Rolling is a very safe sport – falling off is half the fun! When you fall, your bodyweight naturally pushes you either forwards or backwards away from the log. Most rollers simply step off the log as they lose balance, whereas those more determined to stay on the log can be a little more spectacular in their dismount. It makes for great viewing!

WHAT IS THE LOG MADE OF?

The Key Log is made of polyethylene, the same plastic which kayaks are made of. It is portable & lightweight when empty and filled with water to replicate the behavior of a traditional timber log. The log has a high traction surface to help prevent slipping.

WhAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Wear swimwear or comfortable clothing for a water sports activity – you will be exercising!  Either bare feet or aquatic shoes are fine. Most rollers begin with bare feet but then progress to wearing high grip shoes as their skill level increases and more traction is needed.

IS IT HARD TO LEARN?

Getting up onto a Key Log for the first time is a completely new experience for us all. The learning curve is quick and even after the first session you’ll notice a vast improvement. The yellow ‘trainers’ make learning much easier as they slow down the spinning of the log and provide more buoyancy. As your skill level improves, the trainers can then be removed to allow the log to spin faster and faster.

WHO CAN LOG ROLL?

All ages and abilities are welcome to come log rolling. It’s fun, addictive and is a great fitness activity for everyone to enjoy! You don’t need any experience, as most people in Australia have never heard of log rolling before – and we plan on changing that! Basically everyone is a beginner. Come and give it a try and begin your new obsession!

DO I NEED TO WEAR A HELMET?

Helmets are an optional feature.  Most people prefer to participate without one, however we do recommend using a helmet initially to gain confidence on the log.  We do provide helmets should you wish to wear one.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

A whole lot of fun! Your instructor will spend roughly 10 minutes at the start of your beginners lesson going over helpful tips, techniques and safety. It’s unlike anything you’ve ever done! It may be a little daunting at first trying to stand on a spinning log but don’t fear, you’ll get the hang of it pretty quickly. It’s very addictive too so once you start you won’t want to stop!

AM I REQUIRED TO SIGN A WAIVER?

Yes.  Everyone participating in log rolling is required to sign a waiver.  Childen under the age of 18 will require a parent or guardian to sign and confirm signatures on their behalf.

Our electronic waiver is included with all online bookings  and will help speed up the booking process.  The waiver only needs to be completed once.
